THE CALANDERING PROCESS :
It allows the CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION of PLASTIC FILM with a garantee of REGULAR THICKNESSES and GOOD LAY FLAT .
The elements of a FORMULA are BLENDED, HEATED and GELLED to PASS between several successive CYLINDERS of a calender, which will produce gauges and lay flat.
An EMBOSSING CYLINDER can also CUSTOMIZE the FINISH in imprinting a relief on the sheet.
The resultant film is then COOLED, ROLLED or SLIT, according to the required widths.
This sheet can also be DOUBLED with other material or LAMINATED or COATED to give complementary qualities. |
PLASTIC, PVC and BAREX® :
Plastic is a PROGRESSIVE MATERIAL. It is the 21e century’s material, and has endless applications.
CIFRA produces by the calendering process RIGID and FLEXIBLE PVC film, and BAREX® film, which has intrinsic Rigidity and high gas BARRIER PROPERTIES. |
- PVC or " Polyvinyl chloride " or (C2H3Cl)n is a polymer, made from 43% PETROLEUM and 57% SALT , for whilch resources are very important.
Its specific gravity is about 1,30 - 1,40.
- BAREX® is a Copolymer of acrylonitrile and Méthyl acrylate.
(résine agréée LNE, BGA, FDA).
It is associated with an interesting and low specific gravity of 1,15 - 1,20.

PVC is a VERSATILE MATERIAL, universally available for every type of PLASTIC CONVERSION.
According to customer’s requirements, elements become integrated into the formula, such as :
- Stabilizers : to stabilize and improve the heat-résistance of PVC in the calandering process.
All PVC film from CIFRA conforms to regulations.
Standard rigid PVC from CIFRA is food contact certified and approved for pharmaceutical use.
- Plasticisers : to give more or less softness to the film.
CIFRA produces to order custom-made rigid and flexible film.
- Pigments : to give colour to the sheet.
